Does the Daylite API support creating an email record
Hello Daylite team,
I run my business on Daylite and have built my own integration with the Daylite REST API (developer.daylite.app). It reads and updates my records, and it already uses the documented email endpoints to list, read, update and trash emails.
I would like it to file emails into Daylite as well, for messages that never pass through Apple Mail (for example, mail from Gmail). The public API reference lists no endpoint for creating an email. However, Zapier's Daylite integration offers a "Create Email" action that takes Subject, Message ID, From, To, HTML Email Body and Date, plus optional Category, Keywords, links to a Contact, Company, Opportunity, Project, Task or Appointment, and a "Source Import ID". That suggests Daylite can accept new email records through some supported route.
Could you help me with these questions?
- What does Zapier's "Create Email" action use to create the email in Daylite?
- Is that same ability available to a customer's own integration that uses the Daylite REST API with an OAuth connection?
- If so, what are the request method and address, and which fields does it accept?
- Does it need any special permission or partner approval?
- Is the original Message ID kept exactly as supplied?
- What does "Source Import ID" do? In particular, does it stop the same email from being created twice if a request is repeated?
- How are CC, BCC, attachments and inline images handled?
- Could you share a short example request?
Thank you very much for your help.
