Access for Email and File data nodes in API

(edited)

I'm interested in writing an app that would integrate with Daylite's API, but with a particular need to access Emails that are attached to a Daylite account (these usually come from someone sending the email from their DMI plugin while attaching the email to an Opportunity or Project).

I see the API is able to access Notes, but can it also access Emails? Are Emails a special kind of Note, accessible through the API, or are they some other entity?

Access to Email from the API would be incredibly useful, as I know some clients that live in their email inbox and do most of their communication with their own clients through email, yet want to track things with Daylite (by having their email conversation tracked in a Project, for example).

Extrapolating from Email, I'd also like to be able to reach Files that are often attached to these emails. Is that possible already, and if not I would strongly request this feature, along with Email data node access from the API. Thanks!
